Jewish Wedding Photography: Photographs From A Jewish Wedding

Hey, I’m Simon! I just shot this amazing wedding and I can’t wait to share some highlights and insights from one of my favourite venues, The Devere Latimer Estate. With its history and grounds, it’s always a pleasure to go back as a London wedding photographer. I love to be the wedding photographer for Jewish weddings which are always full of life, tradition and celebration.

Here are some of my favourite photographs from this lovely day.

The Couple: Yitzi & Rifky

Yitzi (the groom) and Rifky (the bride) were absolute stars from start to finish. Their warmth, kindness and energy made the day so special and I felt so lucky to be their chosen wedding photographer. Jewish weddings are always special but this one was something else, and I'm sure these uniquely beautiful photos will make you agree!

The Ceremony: A Tapestry of Jewish Traditions

Jewish wedding ceremonies are layered with quite a lot of meaning and tradition and capturing all the moments is a privilege. Here’s how the day went:

Signing the Ketuba Photographs

The day started with the signing of the Ketuba, the Jewish marriage contract. It’s always an emotional moment surrounded by close family and friends. This is one of the Jewish wedding traditions that must make it into the wedding album!

The Bedeken

Next was the Bedeken where the groom veils the bride. This intimate tradition is full of hope, blessings and sometimes a few happy tears. It’s one of my favourite photos to take because it’s so personal and meaningful.

Under the Chuppah

The ceremony under the Chuppah is the heart of the Jewish wedding. The chuppah was beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was electric. The rabbi was highly respected in the community and led the proceedings with warmth and wisdom. The ring exchange, seven blessings (Sheva Brachot) and breaking of the glass were all moments full of emotion and tradition.

Take a look at a selection of some of my favourite photographs from this Jewish celebration.

Yichud & Challah Blessing

After the ceremony the couple had Yichud—a few private moments together as newlyweds. Then the blessing of the bread (Challah) which was a joyful celebration with family and friends.Jewish weddings are famous for their energy and fun and this one was no exception! From the moment the music started the dance floor was packed with guests, friends and family. Israeli dancing, hakofot (dancing in circles) and spontaneous outbursts of joy made for some of my favourite photos of the day.

Having a second photographer with me meant we could capture all the action from the wildest dance moves to the quiet, emotional moments between the couple and their loved ones. I approach every wedding with fresh eyes looking for those unique beautiful moments that make each celebration special. Capturing real moments as they unfold is a really key part of the day, so I'm always on the lookout for spontaneous moments that will make for a great photograph.

Why I Love Photographing Jewish Weddings

As a wedding photographer in London and the South Coast I’ve been lucky to shoot so many amazing couples but Jewish weddings have a special place in my heart. The traditions, the sense of community, the way every guest is part of the celebration—it’s a photographer’s dream. Every wedding is full of laughter, love and raw emotion. It all makes for amazing wedding photography.
